Tying Poly

I have PCOD and trying to lose weight. Any suggestions?
I was diagnosed with Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome when I was 18.I am currently 23 years old. I used to be really thin and suddenly put on about 15 kilos in 8 months when I was 16. I have ever since tied losing weight out of desperation and frustration through erratic exercise and diet methods.
The problem being I don't know how to chose the right way to go about it. I have been to a lot of doctors and all of them said I need to lose weight in order to get rid of this disease. The question is HOW? I can't afford to go to a nutritionist or a dietitian because they're way too expensive.
I lost about 8 kilos 2 years back over a period of 2 weeks because I had chicken pox and was fed oats and food without oil and sugar.I piled on those kilos this year.
Should I try that again? I have never really stuck to a program beyond 4 days because I just get impatient and frustrated with myself.
PCOD involvs a more complicated situation. Doctors advised weight loss, but the POCD carry insulin resistance. When your are insulin resistance you gain weight because your insulin is avid and affect organs like the ovary to produce more hormones. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, affecting approximately 6% of this population. The clinical issues in PCOS relate to menstrual irregularities, symptoms of excess androgen and cystic ovaries. While not universal, and not part of the definition, insulin resistance and obesity are also extremely common accompaniments of this syndrome. This phenotypic nonuniformity and the variability of presentation have made it difficult to define the syndrome. The more recent 2003 Rotterdam consensus workshop was in response to an increasing awareness that the clinical expression of PCOS may be broader. It defined PCOS as a syndrome encompassing two out of three criteria,
1.) Oligo-ovulation causing irregualr periods and infertility.
2) Clinical and/or biochemical signs of hyperandrogenism with excess of hair and truncal obesity
3)Polycystic ovaries, after the exclusion of other entities.
4) Insulin Resistance with tendency to obesity
Treatment consist of :
1) the combination of weight-reducing medications like Metformin and actos
2) Lifestyle modification was shown to be more effective than either alone, in a group of obese adults. Weigt watchers, Jenny Craig etc
3) Bariatric surgery as treatment for obesity is highly relevant to the PCOS population, and has been shown to reverse much of the metabolic, as well as the reproductive, problems in these patients, including hirsutism.
3) Birth Control pills alone or in adittion with medications mentioned in #2, and weight loss may similar in results to bariatric surgery by a decrease in hirsutism score, testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate; amelioration of insulin resistance occurred and ovulatory cycles were also restored.
