Getting to another terminal at Washington Dulles International Apt?
I'll be flying to Washington Dulles International Apt from Chicago O'hare on Friday. I have a two hour connection between my outgoing international flight with Qatar. I have to check in an hour early or there's a chance they won't let me on the flight. Since I'm flying domestic into Washington, and international going outbound, I want to know the process. I'll be flying into either terminal C or D and leaving from terminal B. I'm not worried about getting to terminal B since there will of course be signs pointing me in the right direction. I am more worried about security and customs. Will I be able to make it from my incoming terminal to terminal B in time since I only have one hour? I've never been to the Washington airport, so I don't know how busy it will be. O'hare is obviously extremely busy so it can't be as bad as that. It'll be about 8:50 PM when I arrive in Washington, so the late time should help a little.
Any suggestions?
I think you should be fine as long as the domestic flight is not late. Going from one terminal to another is not bad (like you probably know), there are these weird high shuttles that literally drive you from one terminal to another. They also give you the time they have left before departing so you can pick an choose the most convinient.
As for the fact you have to go through customs, you might want to call the airline once you arrive to DC and let them you know you are there and on your way to the plane. Sometimes that helps. Security is very tight in DC, though if everything is in place in terms of paperwork and the items you are carrying, you shouldn't have a problem. The fact you are coming in at night does help a lot. It won't be as busy and you can always let the flight attendant on your domestic flight know your situation and they might let you off the plane sooner than other passangers so that you can at least make a run for it.
As long as you are not checking out and in baggage due to airline transfer, you should ok.
