How to raise SAT and ACT scores to get into top universities!?
I plan to be pre-med. I am about to enter my senior year. I have almost perfect grades in school, the lowest grade I have made on my report card in high school is a 97 but most of my grades are a 100 or over. I take all honors and AP offered at my school. I do community service and am involved in several organizations and I know I won't have a problem with teacher recommendations. So I do almost everything colleges want. The problem is I seem to have a problem with national examinations. In all standardized tests except SAT and ACT I score almost perfectly. However, I only got a 1910 on my SAT and a 26 on my ACT. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to raise my score? Everyone tells me that these scores aren't the only thing colleges look at and so with all of my extracirricular activities I shouldn't worry so much about this but I guess I am a bit of a perfectionist so please help! Plus I want higher scores because I plan to apply to top schools...like Harvard, Yale,etc.
While it's true the SAT/ACT isn't the only thing schools look at it is important. A lot of schools use a 2/3rds GPA/ 1/3rd SAT/ACT rule, with the other things figuring in in small amounts. Last year over 50% of all applicants to USC had a greater than 4.0 GPA so that should tell you something. To make any real difference to your chances of getting into a top tier school you'd need to raise your SATs to at least the 2100 range.
