Why is my 100 gallon tank with a wet dry system looking dirty?
I set up a 100 gallon fish tank with a wet dry filtration system last week and it looks dirty now. I have one large Pacu and two rather large balla sharks in the tank right now and thats it. My pump filters like 1200gph so i know enough water is going through the wet dry. What gives? Any info will help!
The fish you have seem to produce a lot of waste and therefore you need to clean your tank more often. Regular maintenance I would say once a week of quickly cleaning the glass and a quick vacuum on the rocks is necessary. Then every month to two months do a big cleaning of all the plant's fresh water and such. This will ensure a healthy tank for a long time. Your filter is not the problem, its job is to make sure the water is circulating and the big particles are getting removed. Also if you have a heater check to make sure the temp. is not too high, this can cause algae growth faster. For tropical fish 79-80f is a good temp. Good Luck.
