What is the best fishing line available?
Bass, Steelhead Trout, Walleye. 8 and 10lbs mono test line. I'm looking for a line that won't spook the fish (Invisible), light but strong, doesn't fray easily, and low memory.
sounds like you're describing fluorocarbon which has the same light refractive index as water making it virtually invisible under water. it does have a couple of drawbacks, however: more expensive than nylon mono, heavier than water so it sinks making it difficult to use well with Dry Flies or surface lures, difficult to tie a strong knot (unless perhaps some of the newer formulations live up to their hype) which is the main reason l pulled it from my reels, and it seems to be a bit stiff (which may make it perfect for Wet Fly and nymph leaders). l personally have had excellent luck with maxima - l use the green supersoft - a lot of the copolymers like silver thread are excellent also. you might also try sufix but not the camo multi color. it doesn't seem to make a very strong knot. l've had it break while tying them. you need to try a few different lines and you will find one that you like. that's why they make so many of them. and please don't leave your old line or odd bits along the shoreline. animals tangle in it and you're sure to get hooked in it if and when the water level rises. good luck to you and remember to keep a few and release the rest unharmed.
