I am making the assumption that the question relates to standards used in domestic and inductrial electrical installations.
This is a complicated issue since the current rating of a conductor depends on a large range of factors relating not just to the cross sectional area of the conductor, etc
Ratings depend on the heating effect of the current and the effect this has on the insulator (usually PVC). So ratings depend on the grouping of conductors, whether they are exposed and therefore run cooler, whether in conduits, buried in plaster, or use mineral insulation.
Relevant BS standards include - BS6004, 6231, 6346. You can download a pdf based on BS 6004 from here, and Google might direct you to other downloads for the other Standards.

Another good source of reliable material is the IEE 'On-Site Guide' for electrical installations (use your local library, or fnd a copy in a good book shop). It is based on BS7671.
