I have a 3 month old baby who have a so called "cradle cap" on his scalp. whats the solution?
I have a 3 month old baby whom i breast feed. Flakes are prominent in his scalp and it looks like a dandruff. The doctor said its called a "a cradle cap" cause by the intake of food such as egg, shrimps, chicken or salted fish. We've tried applying baby oil to get rid of the flakes but it keeps on coming back. I need to know what seems to be the solution to my problem?
Cradle cap isn't caused by what you eat, even if you are breast feeding. It may not be pretty to look at, but it's harmless and it will go away all on it's own usually by the first birthday. The most common solution is to use a pure oil to the scalp and comb to remove the flakes. You can use baby oil, mineral oil, olive oil, it doesn't matter. Wash his hair two or three times a week, using a gentle shampoo and your fingers to loosen any flakes you can. Don't scrub his poor little head raw, but some gentle scrubbing with your fingertips can do the job. Otherwise, just comb to remove the flakes and ignore the rest. It will go away all by itself.
