Brass Hair
When ever I go in the sun, my hair oxidizes to this weird brass brown?
It's not colored and naturally brown, that's why I sometimes color it, because it looks colored anyway, but what can I do so it doesn't go brassy?
This situation is something that occurs naturally. The older the hair (meaning the ends), the more open the cuticle is and that makes natural color come out. The first color that comes out is blue since it's the smallest molecule. That is why everyone says they have red undertones when they try to change their color. The next color is red and then yellow.
So it's your porosity on the ends that's making your hair lighter and warmer on the ends.
What you can try is getting regular trims. This is so underdone. Then, when you take a shower, rinse the hair with cool water to close the cuticle. Also, try not to use a lot of heat on your ends.
In the meantime, you could go to a salon and have them do a deposit-only color just on the ends. A good colorist will know what to do.
